PURPOSE:
To lay down a procedure for maintaining the health and medical record of personnel
working in the factory & laboratory.
SCOPE:
This procedure applies for all the workers of factory

PROCEDURE :
a. Put in writing the minimum health requirements of personnel who
work in the factory and in the laboratory.
b. A pre-employment medical examination inclusive of eye testing to be insisted upon; this is applicable even to the employment of temporary operators.
c. Yearly health checks are carried out on all factory personnel and special attention should be paid to persons with any disease in a communicable form.
d. If an employee is suffering from an infectious disease like conjunctivitis or server cold, then he should not report to work.
e. When employees report for work after an absence due to illness involving a communicable disease, they should not commence work till their health has been assessed by a competent medical officer or nurse.
f. Staff is to be encouraged to report about infectious diseases, particularly enteric (stomach) disorders and respiratory diseases. Similarly, they should be asked to report any infectious diseases, which occur at their homes. This will enable the supervisor to arrange for their temporary transfer to other work areas.
g. Staff is to be trained to report any boils, carbuncles, open wounds, or rashes on exposed surfaces of the body. Personnel with these conditions must be excluded from operations involving direct contact with materials and equipment until the condition is corrected.
h. Supervisory staff must look for signs and symptoms of unhealthy conditions of persons.
